MANITOGA ELECTS THREE NEW MEMBERS TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Manitoga/The Russel Wright Design Center elected three distinguished new members to its Board of Directors at the organization’s annual meeting on January 24. Alison Spear, Suzanne Baker and Page Goolrick each bring valuable expertise to the ongoing quest to optimize Manitoga’s value as an education resource and significant tourism-generated economic stimulus.
With former offices in both Miami and New York City, architect Alison Spear recently relocated to the Hudson River Valley with her family. Ms. Reese co-chaired the 2008 Annual Russel Wright Award & Benefit Luncheon with her husband Alex, son of the late Franny Reese, environmentalist and 2002 Russel Wright Award honoree.
Ms. Spear holds licenses in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Florida and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the New York Architectural League, the National Council of Registration Boards and the Miami Design Preservation League. Her extensive international travels have given her designs a cosmopolitan influence.
Suzanne Baker and her husband D.J. (Jan) moved from Texas to New York a decade ago. A retired attorney, Suzanne has taught property, trusts and wills, trial and appellate procedure and other subjects, both as a full time faculty member and an adjunct professor
Ms. Baker has extensive Board experience, including service on the executive committee of her former Houston law firm, two Houston-based corporate Boards with active environmental preservation agendas and the Board of the Storm King School in Cornwall. She is Secretary Elect of the Board of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival.
Page Goolrick is an award winning architect, interiors and product designer with an international practice based in New York City. Her firm has developed a reputation for creating clean, elegant forms and innovative use of materials in designing spaces, structures and products.
Ms. Goolrick, also an avid sailor, does both residential and commercial projects and holds architectural licenses in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and California. Her desk accessory designs are currently featured in the Museum of Modern Art gift store.
“This is our second dynamic class of new Board members in as many years,” said Executive Director Kitty McCullough. “We are thrilled with the progress for the organization that this growing Board capacity demonstrates, as well as the opportunities for continued progress that these three diverse new Board energies offer. We look forward to working with them and our continuing Board members to realize Manitoga’s potential as a National Historic Landmark and must-see Modernism destination for visitors from across the country and around the world.”
